Host and creator Trent Manning launched the Reel Turf Techs Podcast in March 2021 to highlight the stories of turf technicians and equipment managers worldwide. The podcast grew into a community of techs sharing their knowledge, stories, tips and tricks. While our career can be a solitary pursuit at times, Reel Turf Techs connects us in solving the problems and challenges we all face.

Trent Manning

Trent Manning is the equipment manager at both Ansley and Settindown Creek Golf Club in Atlanta and Roswell, GA. Trent earned certificates in small engines, electrical and reel theory from Gwinnett Technical College and completed the GCSAA Equipment Management Certificate Program Levels 1 and 2, earning recognition as a Certified Turf Equipment Manager (CTEM). He also completed the EETC certificates in Electrical, Hydraulic, Four Stroke Engines and Diesel Engines while working for a Toro Distributor where he was a mobile service technician.

Trent has been in the golf equipment industry for over 29 years and shares his expertise with national and international audiences. He serves his local chapter, Georgia GCSA, developing equipment manager education and has served on the Equipment Managers Task Group for GCSAA. He received first place prize from the CMAA for designing and fabricating a mobile water trailer that is used to water small areas on the golf course. In 2018, Trent was recognized for excellence among golf course equipment managers as the Most Valuable Technician by GCSAA and GCM magazine in partnership with Foley Company. In 2022, Trent was honored with the prestigious Edwin Budding Award, further solidifying his reputation as a leader and innovator in golf course equipment management. The Edwin Budding Award recognizes an equipment manager or related innovator, technician or engineer who has made a significant impact on the golf course and turf industry.

From his years as a mobile service tech and in the many shop visits and volunteer events he’s been a part of, Trent discovered his passion for hearing and sharing the stories of technicians worldwide, and created the Reel Turf Techs Podcast.
